Believe it or not, my musical inspiration comes from an anime that I watched more than 3.5 years ago. Its an anime about a high schooler who lives a boring life. Everything is the same for him. Go to school, get bullied, go home, sleep, rinse and repeat. It all changes when he meets a dog by the name of Beck. Beck’s owner is a young adult by the name of Ryusuke, an extremely talented guitarist. His life is changing from the boring one it once was, to one filled with adventure, romance, and music.

Now why do I choose to write about this anime 3.5 years after I watch it? It’s because just yesterday, I found out they made a live action movie out of it!!!! Debby knows how freaking excited I was when I found out. Imagine the event that changed your life in some way or another. Now imagine if you got to relive it again!

I finished watching it yesterday and oh my goodness….it was fantastic. They shortened 100 chapters of manga or 26 episodes of anime into a 2 hour(?) live action film. If you are into anime or manga yourself, you can share my excitement of having your favorite characters come to life.

If you have a passion for music, you will definitely come to appreciate the hell out of this film. Although everything is in Japanese, it doesn’t take away from the quality of the film.

Now more about the movie itself…

The best part of the film is the original music hands down. The two original songs they play actually had me looking for a soundtrack to buy. The songs they like to play are more rock and the occasional ballad. The acting was not as good as I would have wanted it to be but only a couple are professional actors. The character choice is EXCELLENT! When I watched this movie, I felt like I was watching the anime again because the way the actors portrayed their personalities was dead on.

Great movie. Seriously. After watching this, it reinforced my belief that music can change the world. How I know? Because it changed mine.

Things are never one sided. Every act is the result of another. There is never a beginning to whatever you do because everything you do comes as a direct result from something before. Our worlds aren’t shaped by ourselves, but with other people and the ideas and actions we draw from one another.

Everything we see is different to another. We both may be looking at a building but I may see colors while you see size. I may see business while you see beauty. We may sometimes think what we see is more important than what the other sees, but it is always better to put what we both see together. Why not see colors and size? What not see business and beauty?

The only thing we can do before we get too caught up in what we see through our own eyes is to take a second and realize this isn’t your own world. This is our world.

there is nothing like sitting down, grabbing a snack, and get on the computer to blow off some heads.

And after a long period of decapitating, mauling, shooting, and swearing, there is nothing like grabbing a blanket, getting comfortable in my bed, and cracking open a good book.

There is something about reading that is incomparable to a game. Games are fun and they can bring you to an alternate reality that lets yourself unleash the inner crazy person inside of you. However, there is only so much you can do in a game. Compared to a good book, everything is concrete. There is no room for more. There is only what is supposed to happen. Going from point A to point B.

In a book, there is the storyline, the protagonists, the antagonists, the setting, and so much more. Books bring you to an alternate reality that you can not only experience the story with your own eyes, but feel the same emotions, the same sense of adventure, the same thrills that your character feels in the book. The story doesn’t end at the last page. The story lives on in your head. When you go to sleep that day, the story continues in your dream. When you take in the text, a whole world is built in your mind and takes no definite form. The whole world is transforming in your mind whether you like it or not and there is no limit or boundaries in what you see.

I just had a flashback of my childhood. When I analyzed it in my head, I realized it was the earliest I could remember myself using reasoning.

Here’s the scene:

I’m in my aunt’s car with my cousins and we are driving to Kumon (that tutoring center that all Asians know about). I don’t remember specifically where I was sitting and that hole in my memory confuses me because of the next part of my memory.

Anyways, we stop at a stop light behind some cars and we wait for a long time. My aunt complains about it but still, nothing changes. I suggest to my aunt, “Why don’t you just honk at it?” while I’m reaching towards the horn (as I mentioned before, I don’t remember where I was sitting so how would I reach towards the horn?). My aunt panics and slaps my hand away. I know, it doesn’t sound like I was a very smart kid but you will understand my reasoning.

The day before, my aunt was driving me somewhere (I have no idea where) and we were behind someone at a stoplight. We were waiting for a long time. From the back seat, I couldn’t see much because I was probably between 5-8 years old at the time. I hear my aunt honk and we start to go.

Now that I can drive, I can guess at what happened. My aunt honked at the guy in front of us because he didn’t go when the light turned green. The next day, I came to the conclusion that when you honk at someone at a traffic light, they always go, which is why I suggested it that day.

Now I’m not saying I was the smartest kid ever, but I find it interesting to see how I thought back then compared to now.

I used to be an academically bad kid. Back in high school, I played more games than I studied.

Thats right Mom and Dad, I finally admit it. I played lots of games.

In my entire high school career, I have brought home 1 F, and that was when I was a Freshman. I think they make middle schools too easy. I passed without cracking a book and when I got into high school, I suffered because of it. However, I do have my diploma.

I think the problem back then was that “real life” didn’t hit me yet. There wasn’t enough motivation for me to do good. Yeah sure I will get owned by my parents but what else will happen? Nothing else.

Now that I’m in college, I have become exponentially better. I realize that “real life” is just around the corner. I realize that my actions do have consequences. Nobody here is going to babysit you and you are on your own. If you make bad choices, it may effect you for the rest of your life.

So my motivation for doing well in college is to have a better life, and I didn’t have that mindset in high school because I was a kid back then.

Now I’m all grown up O.O

When I was walking to my car the other day, I saw something that disturbed me a bit.

I was walking from Clark hall towards the 10th street garage and there was a girl in front of me walking with these tights on (I have no idea if they were tights or not. I just know that they were form revealing…not that I was looking). I’m walking, she’s walking, and there is a hobo that walks by with another hobo friend. It kind of looked like a hobo gang O.O. Well they were walking the opposite direction as I was and when they passed the girl in front of me, I saw them both turn around, check out her ass, then smile at each other.

I wonder how many times this kind of incident happens in SJSU every single day. I just don’t think it’s very safe for female students especially since these homeless people are walking around doing whatever they want. I think the campus police should start getting these people out of the campuses or at least ask for some ID.

I have nothing against homeless people at all. I just think that loitering school grounds makes our students feel unsafe and something should be done about it.
